Description

Icarus is a striking bronze sculpture by the Belgian artist Guy Buseyne. In Greek mythology, Icarus is known as the son of the master craftsman Daedalus. Icarus and his father attempt to escape from Crete, where they are kept captive, by means of wings in wax. Icarus’ father warns him not to fly too high up to the sun, but in his hubris, Icarus ignores these instructions. The wax wings melt and Icarus tumbles from the sky into the ocean, sparking the idiom don’t fly too close to the sun. Both the beauty and tragedy of this ancient story served as the inspiration for the creation of this luxurious work of art.

Our bronze sculptures are cast using the lost wax method. Icarus is a limited edition bronze sculpture, each piece is numbered and signed.
