Ifi

Ifi is a character from Greek mythology. She was born female, but raised by her mother as a boy to conceal her true gender, as a girl was unwanted by her father. Ifi had to be cautious at all times of fear that anyone would find out about her secret, as if she had to walk on eggshells.

This ceramic statuette by the Italian designer Pantaleo Musarò is part of a series of ceramic figurines that reflect different aspects of human nature. The series show us how humans try to hide their vulnerability by behaving in a certain way. Ifi is hand sculpted in Italy, three eggs are covered In 24 carat gold leaf.
